With #2 quickly approaching, we decided it was time for Hailey to move into a larger room. She was super excited, as she got to pick out the paint colour and decor. We were excited with the naive expectation that she would be happy to play with her toys in her room on early mornings, allowing us to sleep in. On the plus side, after about a month of getting settled into her new room, she donated her old one to the new baby, completely unprompted.

Hailey has been looking forward to visiting Mississauga’s Celebration Square Canada Day festival since last year. Throughout the year, she would periodically mention the hulahooping clowns and stilt walkers. We also enjoyed the beautiful weather this long weekend with several BBQs and visiting with family.

Hailey has spent this summer enjoying herself outside. She has had a blast in her ride on jeep, which nana and nani got her for her birthday. She’s been enjoying the turtle sandbox that grandpa got her. She’s also really gotten into trains, thanks to the train table big nani got her! Hailey has learned to ride her tricycle as well. Finally, Hailey has ensured everyone has left some chalk art on the driveway or in nana and nani’s backyard!

We went up to Ottawa to visit baby Colin over the Victoria Day long weekend. It had been quite a while since our last trip to Ottawa and Hailey had a blast, despite getting a nasty ear infection. She and Caleb really enjoyed bike riding together, while the rest of us gushed over baby Colin!

This year Hailey had a blast at YiaYia and uncle Ken’s for Greek Easter. Aunt Elaine and Jamie visited and helped Hailey dye eggs, which she was super proud of. In fact, she gobbled upĀ  many of the eggs, which she usually isn’t a huge fan of. -

Today was Hailey’s first official day at daycare. She has been transitioning for the past month and has done quite well, all things considered. She really enjoys socializing and interacting with kids her own age. In fact, one day she was greeted with hugs by four kids upon entering the classroom. She also receives warm goodbyes each day. She is really enjoying the independence that daycare instills and has learned many new skills during the transition phase alone. We are so excited for her and proud of her. During the brief transition phase, she has already proved to be a leader and amused us all, with quotes such as:

  • “I cannot find my happy face” when forced to go outside on the playground instead of being able to play with toys upon arrival
  • “nani’s chicken is better” when asked to eat the chicken served at lunch
  • “my house is beside my neighbour’s house” when asked where she lives

Drop off was a bit tough today, as Hailey has realized that we cannot stay in the classroom with her, but she seemed to have a good day overall. -

Hailey had a fun filled Easter weekend this year. It started out with her first Easter egg hunt, which she seemed to enjoy more than the actual chocolate. We then got into some Easter presents… boots galore for our little shoe lover! She also got a cute little apron and we did some baking together. Finally we visited Yia yia and uncle Ken for an action packed afternoon. -

We celebrated Hailey’s 3rd birthday over the Family Day weekend with two ‘Dora the Explorer’ and ‘Go Diego Go’ themed parties this year. Hailey was much more interested in the presents, as opposed to the wrapping, this year :p She really appreciated the decorations as well… we got big thank you hugs and were asked to keep them up for some time after the big day. She also understood the concept of her age and how she was becoming a big girl! -

As usual, our winter baby loved the snow storms we got pummeled with this year. The red nose and cheeks didn’t seem to bother her one little bit.

This year we had the tree up in November, which seemed like a great idea at the time, until Hailey came down every morning asking if it was Christmas yet. Should have seen that one coming! Hailey really enjoyed decorating, as evidenced by the lack of symmetry of the ornaments on the tree. We also took in the Oakville Santa Claus Parade and the Streetsville Santa Claus Parade. Hailey really enjoyed seeing Santa at these events and even sat on his lap without any tears! Finally, we celebrated with a few family visits.
