Today was Hailey’s first official day at daycare. She has been transitioning for the past month and has done quite well, all things considered. She really enjoys socializing and interacting with kids her own age. In fact, one day she was greeted with hugs by four kids upon entering the classroom. She also receives warm goodbyes each day. She is really enjoying the independence that daycare instills and has learned many new skills during the transition phase alone. We are so excited for her and proud of her. During the brief transition phase, she has already proved to be a leader and amused us all, with quotes such as:
- “I cannot find my happy face” when forced to go outside on the playground instead of being able to play with toys upon arrival
- “nani’s chicken is better” when asked to eat the chicken served at lunch
- “my house is beside my neighbour’s house” when asked where she lives
Drop off was a bit tough today, as Hailey has realized that we cannot stay in the classroom with her, but she seemed to have a good day overall. -
