Butters

This Christmas was incredibly busy. By the end of the season, we had attended six family get togethers. We are hoping the next month will be full of sleeping in and mooching, which our many new board games will make even more entertaining. Check out the pics of time spent with Eric’s side of the family and Bahar’s side of the family.

We spent Greek Easter at Elaine and Joe’s. We had a nice time stuffing ourselves with lots of food and three fantastic desserts. As you can see in most of the pics, the family had a ball checking out the Yazoo family site, especially Marie, who had a lot of trouble recognizing Helen! “Which Helen?!”

Habeebah’s birthday month finally came to an end on March 15th. Mother nature could only foil her for so long. The story… Beebs’ birthday was on February 13th, but every time we made plans to celebrate, there was a snow storm or fear of one.

We celebrated at ‘On the Curve’, a lounge by Square One, in Mississauga. The venue was quite nice and the band was fantastic, but we quickly realized we were the youngest table there. It was a fun night out anyway.

We attended Mo’s graduation ceremony at the University of Guelph on February 19th, 2008. It was a great ceremony - short and sweet with some really motivating speakers. Mo received a Bachelor of Computing degree with a minor in Business Administration. Congrats Mo and welcome to the working world suckah!

We celebrated Bob and Mary’s 40th wedding anniversary this weekend. They had brought out their wedding album, and we had a blast trying to identify everyone. It was a nice warm day, which meant lounging around and watching babies in the pool.

This past weekend, we took the Spaniards (Nisha and Danny) to Hamilton to check out Dundurn Castle and Mac. Dundurn was more of a mansion then a castle, but it was quite interesting anyway. After that, we headed over to McMaster, where Eric was somewhat annoyed to see all the additions his hard earned tuition payments had been used to purchase.

Dayaram WeddingSal and Sophie were married on June 23rd. The entire family made it up to Montreal for the events, which included a mehendi party, rehearsal, and wedding ceremony and reception. A week later, Sal’s parents threw a fantastic party in Mississauga as well. It’s been exhausting, but enjoyable and definitely memorable.

Wall WeddingOn Saturday June 9th, Eric and I attended Andrew and Lydia’s wedding. It was a beautiful event that was so meticulously planned. And the weather could not have been better.

We had a New Year’s party at my aunt Nimu’s house. In true Indian style, dinner was served at 11:30 and dessert around 12:00. Dinner consisted of salmon, kafta, lamb, samosas, and falafel. It was a nice change after all the turkey we’ve been having.

We spent New Year’s eve at James’ place. It was really nice not to have to battle crowds or stand in the rain. The evening consisted of eating, poker, and trivial pursuit. Eric managed to come out $20 ahead!

JediThis year, we had a Christmas dinner at my parents’ place. First, Mo demanded a turkey. Then, he decided a 10 lb turkey wasn’t large enough, even though there were three other main dishes. After the dinner, he was reluctant to send leftovers home with our guests. Guess who is currently working through a 4L container of turkey.

We spent Christmas day at Helen and Ken’s with Tony, Tammy, Samantha, and the zoo (Sally, Sable, Maggie, and Karma). There is a never a dull moment when you have that many pets around.

We also attended a potluck at David and Eva’s. I was quite jealous; they have a large kitchen with a lot of counter space, which is exactly what Eric and I are looking for. It was a fun night, despite Eric losing his poker buy-in :p

We also spent a couple of days in Kingston visiting Tim and Elaine. Most of our time there was spent catching up, but we did manage to go for a short walk on the main strip, which was decorated quite nicely. It was incredibly cold though… guess we were spoiled by the nice weather we’ve had in T.O.
