We took advantage of the beautiful weather we had recently and took Hailey out for her first walk. It felt great to get some fresh air with the little one. Of course, she was out cold - the beauty of motion!

Hailey had more visitors too. Uncle Stan and aunt Donna, uncle Vishal and great aunt Meena, and great nana (great grandpa) dropped by to visit Hailey.

We had a modified Indian naming celebration for Hailey on February 22nd. Traditionally, the letter of a baby’s first name is chosen to correspond with the first letter of a scripture or verse from the Granth Sahib, our holy book. While we selected the name in a more western manner, we did conduct the other parts of the ceremony, which includes eating some specific foods and of course showering the baby with gifts. Hailey received her first piece of jewelry.

Hailey visited nana (grandpa Murli) and nani (grandma Devi) for the first time on March 6th. Since it was Hailey’s first visit, we had a special dinner and again she was showered with gifts. However, this time mommy got something too!

We would like to announce the arrival of Hailey Alexandra Strohm, born on February 17th at 6:24 a.m. at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga. Hailey weighed in at 7 lb 4 oz. Our little bundle of joy has quickly stolen the hearts of everyone around her and has us all wrapped around her tiny little finger!

This holiday season we spent much of our time off preparing the baby room. It feels like such a calm and serene space now! We painted it a soft yellow colour, banana cream, and enlarged the closet just enough to fit in a dresser which will function as a change table. This project inspired us to tackle the living and dining rooms. We went with a light green for the living room, which flows into the dining room, where we chose to paint an accent wall in a dark green. Prior to this, the entire house was painted in the same colour, a dull gray-white. It’s amazing how a little paint can completely change the feel of a room.

We really enjoyed the holidays this year. We decided to host two dinners with approximately 20 guests each time. This finally gave people a chance to check out our place, which we’ve been in for over a year; yes, this was long overdue. The holidays were a lot less hectic this year, which may have something to do with not traveling as much and Bahar not being on call during the break!

We were invited to a nice family dinner on November 21st for Ken’s 70th Birthday, which was on the 25th. This was then followed by a celebration with Ken and Helen’s friends. Unfortunately for Ken, these friends had quite a sense of humour, which Ken bravely endured. What a great sport! A fun time was had by all!

Eric and Bahar, along with 11 other family members, took a 7 day Alaskan Cruise on the Sapphire Princess this fall. We took a flight to Anchorage, Alaska, where we embarked the ship. From here, we cruised through the College Fjord and Glacier Bay. We then visited Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, and finally disembarked in Vancouver.

Eric and I attended Zena and Bruce’s wedding on September 6th. The ceremony and reception was held aboard the Jubilee Queen in Toronto. It was a beautiful event.
A noteworthy mention should go to Jessie, yet again, for her cake.

On September 4th, we attended a party to celebrate the birth of Sal and Sophie’s son. Caleb Maurice Dayaram was born on June 7th. He is just the most easy going baby, who is happy being picked up by anyone and can sleep through any amount of noise!

We spent mother’s day with aunty Nimu at Toronto General Hospital. She was recovering well and we wanted to do something a little special for her. Mo baked his famous cheesecake and we had the family sign a gigantic singing card! We even had her grand puppies sign it!
