Spain
To kick of the summer of 2004, we visited Nisha and Dinesh in Playa des Ingles
in Gran Canaria, one of the seven Canary Islands. While there, we visited Tenerife,
a neighboring island.
The Canary Islands are a group of seven major volcanic islands (Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Tenerife, La Palma, Gomera, Hierro) that extend for almost 300 miles (500 km) east to west about 60 miles (100 km) off the coast of northwest Africa. Volcanic activity of the island group spans 20 million years and becomes progressively older to the east. The Greeks and Romans reported on this archipelago of volcanic origins, and called it the Happy Islands, Garden of the Hesperides, Atlantida... Some historians suppose that the legendary continent Atlantis was located here. Here are the pics. Enjoy!
